A Preservation Breeder of Tibetan Mastiffs
Glenda owned and bred wolves and wolf dogs for 20 years. As dogs are the descendants of the magnificent wolf, she was drawn to her first primitive breed, the Tibetan Mastiff. Tibetan Mastiffs were bred to be guardians and share a number of wolf-like traits. They are protective of their domain and serve as stalwart guardians of property. They are a great complement to the working nature of the Finnish Lapphund. For Glenda, the two breeds go hand in hand.
Like with her Lappy program, Glenda breeds her Tibetans for quality, not quantity. Following breed standard and structure is the foundation of responsible breeding. Genetic testing for known issues is pertinent to the well-being and sustainability of this primitive breed.
With the quality of breeding of Tibetan Mastiffs on a steady decline in the United States, Glenda has recognized that the gene pool is too small with many stud dogs being overused. When choosing her pairings, she works hard to ensure a healthier, more expansive approach to breeding.
